US strikes Qeshm as Iran says deal still distant

US officials said Washington carried out limited, “defensive” strikes on Iran’s Qeshm Island after the Revolutionary Guard fired at a US aircraft. Iran said a deal remains far off after Qatar-mediated talks ended without a breakthrough, though Doha said both sides were reviewing proposals.
