Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi stress regional security in Tehran
Senior military and intelligence officials from Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia stressed the need for a joint framework for regional cooperation and security at a meeting in Tehran, according to Iranian officials. Bagheri Kani, deputy secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said no country sought to impose its views, while Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, told state TV that participants agreed regional security should be 'endogenous' and free of 'foreign interference,' BBC Persian reported. Bagheri Kani also claimed the United States had failed to achieve its goals against Iran.
