Leaked files: Russia agreed to supply Iran 90 missile launchers

According to leaked Russian defense industry documents obtained by the Ukrainian firm Dallas Analytics and reported by the Financial Times and the Guardian, Russia agreed to supply Iran with 90 launchers for LMUR guided missiles fired from Mi-28 attack helicopters. The documents identify the buyer as “K-10,” a code used for Iran, though it is unclear whether the launchers have been delivered; Moscow has denied supplying weapons to Tehran.

The Financial Times reported that it obtained previously undisclosed Russian defense industry documents, including a 2024–2025 production schedule from the Vympel State Machine Building Design Bureau, a subsidiary of the state-owned KTRV defense conglomerate. The Guardian said the documents were obtained by the Ukrainian firm Dallas Analytics and shared with it.

According to the FT, the export order covers 90 APU-L launchers for a buyer identified as “K-10,” a code used for Iran; the launchers are mounted on Mi-28 attack helicopters and designed for LMUR (Izdeliye 305) missiles with a range of up to 14 kilometers. The documents also list a Chinese order for 192 APU-305 launchers and seven Russian customers, and a May 2024 Vympel letter urged KBM to expedite component deliveries. It remains unclear whether the launchers have been delivered, and Moscow has repeatedly denied supplying weapons to Iran during the war.
