Houthis claim six attacks on Saudi sites despite talks
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed six missile and drone operations against Saudi oil refineries, Aramco facilities, airports and a military headquarters; there was no independent corroboration. The announcement followed a Monday meeting in Tehran between Iranian, Saudi, Turkish and Pakistani officials who agreed to continue dialogue. The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted two ballistic missiles fired toward Riyadh, and Saudi civil defence said shrapnel wounded one citizen.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said in a statement on X that the operations targeted the Ras Tanura refinery with a ballistic missile, an Aramco facility in Abqaiq with a missile, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with multiple missiles, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam with a drone, the Rabigh refinery with a ballistic missile and a Saudi military headquarters in the Najran region. There was no independent corroboration of the claims.
The announcement came after a Monday meeting in Tehran hosted by Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei and attended by Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin. An Iranian statement said participants agreed to continue discussions to strengthen cooperation between the four countries, while Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry stressed the importance of opening negotiation channels to prevent a return to military escalation. The Saudi-led coalition said its air defences intercepted two ballistic missiles fired toward Riyadh; Saudi civil defence said shrapnel wounded one citizen and damaged a house and a vehicle.
