Sources: Iran funds Hezbollah rearmament amid new war fears

Lebanese security sources told Reuters that Hezbollah has spent three months rearming for a possible new war with Israel after receiving tens of millions of dollars from Iran, in addition to about $200 million Tehran sent to help displaced families. The sources said the group is restoring command structures and procuring explosives and drone parts, while Hezbollah's media office rejected claims its command-and-control system broke down and said Israeli occupation makes resistance a legitimate right. Antiwar News noted that US-brokered Israel-Lebanon talks have produced no Israeli pledge to stop attacks or withdraw from southern Lebanon.

The security sources said Iran sent tens of millions of dollars for military rebuilding, separate from about $200 million for displaced families in Hezbollah's Shia heartlands. They said Hezbollah used a lull in hostilities since June to focus on procuring explosives and producing drones for use against Israeli positions, and to repair command-and-control structures damaged in fighting at Bint Jbeil and the Ali al-Taher ridge. Hezbollah's media office rejected the suggestion that its command systems had broken down and said Israel's occupation of Lebanese land made resistance a legitimate right. A Hezbollah official and a Lebanese security source said explosives seized by Lebanese authorities this month belonged to the group and were intended for its explosive drones.
