NIAC opposes Census rules excluding noncitizens, dropping MENA data
NIAC said it filed a public comment on November 2 opposing two U.S. Census Bureau proposals that would exclude undocumented residents and many lawfully present noncitizens from the population used to apportion congressional seats and remove race and ethnicity questions from the 2030 Census. The group urged the Bureau to withdraw both proposals, count all residents regardless of immigration status, and keep a combined race and ethnicity question with a MENA category and detailed Iranian identification.
