Jafar Panahi appears at Tehran funeral in first public outing
Award-winning Iranian director Jafar Panahi made his first public appearance since returning to Iran, attending the Tehran funeral of former national team footballer Hamid Alidoosti, according to video reports and images published by ISNA and outlets outside Iran. Panahi, whose lawyer says he has been sentenced to more than five years in prison, was seen embracing actor Peyman Maadi. Alidoosti's daughter, actor Taraneh Alidoosti, attended without the headscarf required by law and helped carry her father's coffin.
