Africa food security at risk from war on Iran, trade officials warn
Trade officials from Africa and a UNCTAD official said at a Doha forum that the US-Israel war on Iran and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz are driving up fuel and fertiliser prices, threatening food security. Uganda’s trade minister said fuel prices more than doubled, while Zimbabwe’s minister warned of pressure in a country where over 70 percent of the population depends on agriculture.
