Uncertainty over land trade as Pakistan halts Iran crossings
Pakistan has halted commercial traffic at its two main crossings with Iran, a corridor that had become increasingly important as war and maritime restrictions disrupted traditional trade routes. Iranian and Pakistani officials cite technical, administrative and security reasons, while BBC Persian reported that some observers see the move as part of mounting economic pressure on Iran. Khabar Online cited US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's claim that Washington is working with Iran's neighbors to cut land routes, and reported that such border closures have failed and pushed neighbors to pull back because the measures harmed their own economies.
