US says Arab states of Persian Gulf exported 1.5bn barrels via Hormuz
US Central Command said on Sunday, October 25, that it had helped Arab states of the Persian Gulf export more than 1.5 billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz since summer, bypassing what it called an Iranian blockade. CENTCOM said more than 3,000 commercial vessels transited the strait in six months and over 95 percent sailed safely; its chief, Admiral Brad Cooper, said primary routes were free of Iranian sea mines. The claims could not be independently verified.
