Kadivar, Abrahamian discuss Iran policy and prospects for diplomacy
Iranian-American sociologist Ali Kadivar joined historian Ervand Abrahamian for a conversation hosted by Historians for Peace and Democracy and Massachusetts Peace Action. They discussed how sovereignty, historical experience, and perceptions of existential threat shape Iranian foreign policy decisions, and why military pressure can deepen the dynamics it seeks to change. The conversation also raised the question of what space remains for Iranians pursuing democracy under repression at home and military threats abroad.
