Oil hits $117 amid reported Hormuz explosion; Trump touts profits

Reports of an explosion in the Strait of Hormuz came as oil prices rose, with Asr-e Iran reporting $117 a barrel after Donya-e-Eqtesad earlier cited $113. An IRGC spokesman posted an image of a burning tanker and cited a rise in Brent crude from $116 to $117, ISNA reported. US President Donald Trump said US oil and gas companies were making a “fortune” from Hormuz shipping disruptions caused by the war with Iran, according to Antiwar News.
